Glowing Crystal Advent Calendar

Bring geology, chemistry, and physics to life with 25 days of glowing discoveries! Behind each door is a real fluorescent mineral, gemstone, or shell that reveals hidden colors under ultraviolet light. Designed and produced by an astrophysicist and educator, this hands-on STEM advent calendar transforms the holiday countdown into an interactive science experience.

Each calendar includes: • 25 unique fluorescent specimens (no repeats) • Identification cards for every mineral • Two UV flashlights (365 nm and 395 nm) behind days 1 and 2 along with the day's crystal samples • Information about fluorescence and light on the back • Links to free information and experiments using the materials, including alignment with • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Both versions of the collection include samples of ruby, pink sapphire, opal, sodalite, Yooperlite, Hackmanite, Herkimer Diamond, Mangano Calcite, Lapis Lazuli, fluorite, Willemite, Wernerite (scapolite), Kornerupine, Hauyne, and more!

Ages 6+. Includes small parts. Long wave UV flashlights are safe for kids to use to view minerals. Two UV flashlights (395 nm and 365 nm) are included in the box behind days 1 and 2 (along with minerals for those days).
